Nature - (and this time it's) up close (and personal)

Springtime is finally here!

There's nothing like watching nature come to life after being dormant all winter long. I love a good pine tree, but when it's the only green you see for months...it can be a little depressing.

Last weekend my mom, sister and I journeyed to the Arboretum to take a look at everything blooming. Spring is still kind of getting a slow start here in New York, but we managed to catch the end of the daffodils and the beginnings of some great, green buds. My only recommendation if you're going to do this, wear shoes that AREN'T flip flops. I enjoyed our walk, but because spring is still breaking itself in there's a lot of mud. Great for toes when you're in the spa, not so much when you still have a half mile back to the car.

I know I've said it before...but I'll say it again. There's nothing like a getting close to your subject. One yellow daffodil looks just like any other daffodil until you're inches away from it, watching how it interacts with the sun and the wind and the other plantlife around it. Plus, the new perspective it brings you can be quite interesting.

That's "thinking outside the box." Although, since I just told you, perhaps I created a new box, and if you take a photo close up, you won't be thinking outside of anything at all. Hmm...a paradox. Is that the right word? Who knows (I bet an english major would).
